    Digital Producer "The Stream" Al Jazeera
    Seena Khalil is an award-winning digital journalist with a passion for mobile storytelling. During her six years working as part of Al Jazeera’s Digital team, Seena produced, presented, and edited social videos on diverse global topics. As a digital native, Seena was instrumental in launching Al Jazeera’s TikTok account, which now boasts over 3.4 million followers. Seena used her mobile journalism skills to cover the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, shooting daily digital packages using just an iPhone and microphone. Now with The Stream, Seena merges digital expertise with TV, shaping the future of news in its 2023 relaunch
  • Sandra Gathmann
    Producer / Presenter
    Sandra is a multi-skilled host and co-creator of an award-winning digital show called ‘Start Here’ that explains and simplifies world news for Al Jazeera English. She is based in London, UK but has filmed short digital documentaries for her show from places like Afghanistan, Mexico, and East Jerusalem. She regularly produces vertical video for social media including bespoke mojo content during the 2022 World Cup and 2023 elections in Turkey. Before joining Al Jazeera, Sandra was a correspondent for various TV and radio channels, roving and reporting from around the world.

  • Masha Lavrova
    Video Producer and Presenter
    Masha is a video producer and host at the Kyiv Independent. With a background in digital marketing and content creation, she gained experience working in Australia and freelancing for global companies. Masha holds a bachelor’s degree in screen media and communication from Western Sydney University and has studied film and TV directing and producing. After living abroad for 8 years, she returned to Ukraine in 2023 to help her country. Currently, she is producing and hosting a limited series, "Dare to Ukraine," to reveal Ukraine’s rich culture and resilience beyond the war headlines.


  • Salomé Saldarriaga J
    Journalist & Communications Front Line Defenders
    A bilingual Colombian multimedia journalist specialising in international affairs, social, and environmental issues. With a strong background in strategic communications, event management, and project leadership, she currently works in communications and events at Front Line Defenders, an organisation protecting human rights defenders at risk.

    She holds an MA in Journalism and International Affairs from CNN and UCD, and a summa cum laude BA in Social Communications focused on political communication. She was also part of the inaugural cohort of CNN & the Rockefeller Foundation’s Climate Storytellers.

    As a freelance journalist, she’s worked in English and Spanish for outlets like CNN World, El País, Brújula Global, EA WorldView, and others. Originally from Colombia, she is now based in Ireland.
  • SJ van Breda
    Filmmaker, Director, Editor
    SJ is a multi award winning South African editor and director for film and digital media. SJ graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Cape Town, and worked in the aerospace research field for two years, before pursuing film at Vancouver Film School. SJ has worked with diverse clients such as the WWF, UNFPA, UNICEF, FairTrade Africa, The Beautiful News, Aimer Films, Storyhive Canada, FilmicPro, Frame.io, Xiaomi, Zhiyun, and The Kingsley Holgate Foundation.

    SJ has screened films at Whistler, Oxford, and the SA Indie Film Festival and recently won the doc category at FilmicFest, the Moment Invitational Film Festival 2021, and her latest documentary work ‘Freeflow’ won best editing and best cinematography at SF3 2023 in Sydney, and was named Best Short Documentary at the African Smartphone Film Festival 2023.

    SJ is a finalist in the Moment Invitational Film Festival 2024, and will screen her most recent editing work ‘A Little Strange’ at SF3 2024 in Sydney.

  • Professor Liam Kennedy
    Director of the Clinton Institute at University College Dublin
    Liam Kennedy is Professor of American Studies and Director of the Clinton Institute at University College Dublin. He is the author/editor of eleven books on media, culture and politics. Recent publications include Trump’s America (2020) and the Routledge Handbook of Diaspora Diplomacy (2021). He is director of the MA in Journalism and International Affairs programme at UCD.
  • Kerry Sanders
    Freelance Mojo Reporter / Former NBC Correspondent
    Kerry Sanders began his journalism career at the *South Middlesex News* in Boston and later reported for Radio del Pacifico in Peru. A University of South Florida graduate, he worked for several Florida TV stations before joining NBC, where he spent 32 years as a Miami-based correspondent. Sanders covered major stories, including the Surfside condo collapse, Hurricane Katrina, and the Parkland shooting. Known for his dedication to environmental and animal stories, he famously rescued dolphins during a live report after Hurricane Irma. His accolades include Peabody, Emmy, and Edward R. Murrow Awards for his hurricane and international reporting, including coverage from Haiti, Iraq, and Kosovo. After retiring in 2023, he hopes to continue exploring long-form reporting.

    Principal Scientist & Virtual Production Broadcast Specialist, University of the Shannon
    Grace is Principal Scientist and Senior Virtual Production Broadcast Specialist at
    Technological University of the Shannon. She is currently engaged in the Horizon Europe TRANSMIXR project, collaborating with 22 organisations across Europe. This consortium leverages advanced expertise in research, media, and innovation, focusing on the integration of AI and XR technologies within the creative and cultural sectors.
    With over 16 years at RTÉ, Grace previously served as Design Operations Lead, focusing on innovation and enhancing production practices. She is a strong advocate for diversity, inclusion, and sustainable practices within the industry.
    She recently collaborated with global news organisations including BBC, EBU, ITN, Associated Press, AFP, Reuters, CBC, CBS, and technology leaders such as WebLyzard Technology, StoryPact, Nagra, HAND, Videntifier, Eluvio and Open Origins on an IBC Accelerator project to combat disinformation.

Today you can find PhotoJoseph shooting video productions forglobal brands, speaking at international trade shows, hosting online events for industry leaders, and consulting on all topics production-related.     Sara is a correspondent for DW for the MENA region based in Beirut, with a strong background in video journalism, mobile reporting and media training built over eight years. In 2024, she covered the war in Lebanon, focusing on humanitarian issues and the impact of the war on civilians. Her journalistic work highlights human rights topics and stories of underrepresented communities. As a media trainer, Sara works with DW Akademie, ICFJ and other organizations, training over 100 journalists each year in mobile journalism and ethical reporting. She also consults on youth-focused digital platforms, creating impactful content strategies.In addition to her journalism and training work, Sara leads Masar Network, a platform dedicated to providing opportunities for Arabic-speaking journalists

    Björn Staschen is a seasoned journalist, author, and innovator with a passion for exploring alternative platforms and their impact on media and society. As the founder of thenewsocial.de, a German newsletter on emerging social platforms and digital trends, he delves into the evolving landscape of online communication. A prominent figure in German media, Staschen spent years at the public broadcaster NDR, pioneering digital storytelling and mobile journalism.
    His book, In der Social Media Falle ("Caught in the Social Media Trap"), critically examines the influence of mainstream social networks on society and journalism, advocating for ethical digital spaces. Through his work, Staschen inspires a rethinking of how we engage with technology and media.


  • Terri Morgan
    Co-Founder and Director of Product Design, Luma Touch
    Terri has over three decades of experience driving innovations that have helped shape video editing and content creation. She has held leading positions in product management and design at renowned companies such as Lightworks, Tektronix, Fast Multimedia, Pinnacle Systems, and Avid, where she won the Avid Achievement Award for her lead design role in the development of Pinnacle Studio for iOS.
    As a co-founder of LumaTouch, her lifelong passion for video editing is channeled into creating products that empower creators worldwide, pioneering a new category of video editing software; Professional Mobile Editing with LumaFusion, and winning Apple’s iPad App of the Year.
    But it is Terri's enthusiasm for human creativity that has led her to ask vital questions about our future as creatives living alongside Generative AI.
    Terri holds a BA in Visual Communications from The Evergreen State College and a Professional Certificate in Human Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Washington.

    Felicitas (Feli) is an Argentinian multimedia journalist with over five years of experience specialising in international affairs and social media. Based in London, UK, she is pursuing a master’s degree in International Journalism at City University of London while working as a freelancer for BBC Mundo’s video team. Feli has previously worked with leading media outlets such as CNN and Clarín.
    Feli also creates engaging content for her personal social media accounts where she explains and simplifies global events. She teaches workshops on social media strategy, video production, and personal branding, helping organizations and individuals enhance their digital storytelling skills.
  • Jon Gill
    Award winning Filmmaker
    Jon is an award winning filmmaker and communications designer.

    He has been developing and delivering his unique #MadeOnAMobile training programme for more than a decade with over 1000 attendees since 2020.
    He currently has several award winning short films screening across the world from Seattle to Sydney. He speaks regularly at events in the UK and internationally on mobile filmmaking and storytelling.
  • Hosam El Nagar
    AI, Education and Innovation Consultant
    Former Head of Innovation and Learning at the Thomson Foundation, Hosam has been at the forefront of technological developments in media and learning and development. In 2013 he introduced mobile journalism to Thomson and its clients and in 2015 used Design Thinking to research and develop Thomson Foundation’s award winning online platorm Journalism Now which attracted more than 50 thousand journalists worldwide from more than 200 countries. Hosam was an early adopter of Generative AI and has designed multiple training programmes for various organisations. Currently, he advises organisations in Generative AI and L&D.

    Dan is a designer, photographer, and creative director based in London and Miami.

    One of the original Instagram beta-testers and a speaker at the world’s first mobile photography conference, Dan’s work was featured in the App Store at Instagram's launch and he quickly became one of the most-followed photographers online.

    A regular leader of workshops and other events for Leica, Apple, Kodak, and more, his Skillshare classes have reached more than 45,000 students.

    Former Creative Director at MOO.COM, Dan co-founded The Photographic Journal and continues to consult on design, product, and brand strategy, and travels worldwide on photographic commissions.

    Dan’s first photographic book, Koya Bound (Winner, AIGA Cover Design Award, 2017), was published in 2016 by Pre/Post in Japan.


  • John Inge Johansen
    Multimedia Journalist & Trainer NRK
    John Inge is an award-winning Norwegian visual storyteller from the public broadcaster NRK. He has been working in the field for 30+ years. He was an early adopter and one of the pioneers of mojo as a concept ever since 2011. He has been working in the arctic for several decades, fighting cold conditions and extreme weather, within all fields of journalism: as a journalist, as host for radio and tv, as cameraman for large productions and reality-shows. Most of the time he has been working alone. He is a trainer for CIRCOM, the organisation for regional broadcasters in Europe, and has trained tv-journalists all over the continent. He also teaches part time at University of Bergen for bachelor and master-students in journalism. At the moment he is connected to NRK Vestland in the southwest of Norway.
  • Brendan Ó Sé
    Award Winning Photographer & Educator
    Brendan is an award-winning fine art photographer/iPhone photographer and
    photography educator from Cork, Ireland. He has been part of the MojoFest community since 2015. Brendan was part of the original Apple #shotoniPhone global campaign of images shot on iPhone 6 in 2015, which saw his photographs go on display in huge billboards in 72 cities for over 6 months.
    In 2017 he was iPhone Photographer of the Year, and in 2018 MojoFest photographer of the year. As well as winning many other awards in prestigious international competitions, Brendan has been invited to deliver workshops, speak about and exhibit his work around the world, from Iceland to Indonesia. His most recent work has been exhibited as part of the Irish embassy’s Ireland in Frame rolling series of exhibitions in Germany, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Spain.
    Brendan’s offers mobile photography and street photography workshops in Ireland with the Photo Museum of Ireland in Dublin and the Glucksman Gallery in Cork. He has delivered his workshops around the world and also fully online to a global audience.
    Using the iPhone Brendan tries to see and create in unusual ways and this results in someunique imagery and striking street photography.

    Achim brings over 30 years of experience in the professional audio industry, backed by a university degree in acoustic engineering. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of roles spanning product marketing, corporate strategy, and the development of innovative, "outside-the-box" solutions to address emerging applications and customer needs. A staunch supporter of the MoJo community from the very beginning, Achim possesses a profound understanding of the essentials for creating exceptional sound quality in diverse content creation scenarios.

    Matthias an awarded documentary filmmaker, visual storyteller, and creative coach with a passion for pushing the boundaries of video content creation. Based in Hamburg, he has been filming documentaries worldwide. His most recent works for ARD Weltspiegel focussed on young people in China, the US and the Faroe Islands and their struggle for their own identity. As a trainer he is helping filmmakers, journalists, and content creators master the art of visual storytelling—whether through cinematic documentary work, mobile journalism, or cutting-edge AI tools.
    Passionate about the intersection of technology and creativity, Mat brings a fresh perspective to modern content creation. Whether working on groundbreaking documentaries or guiding professionals in AI-powered content creation, he is always dedicated to finding new and creative ways to tell stories that resonate.


  • Rainer Blank
    Filmmaker and Educator
    Rainer is a filmmaker and expert in visual content creation, specializing in training media students at universities and professionals at European broadcasters. Based in Hamburg, Germany, he began his career as a TV journalist for German public broadcaster NDR and later traveled the world as a documentary filmmaker, covering stories in Vietnam, Morocco, Tanzania, Cuba, and beyond.
    As a pioneer in visual storytelling, Rainer was among the first video journalists at NDR, continuously pushing the boundaries of innovative reporting. He is also a long-standing member of the German Eurovision Song Contest delegation, providing exclusive backstage coverage for national news programs.
    With a strong focus on mobile reporting, Rainer has trained aspiring journalists and media professionals in the art of smartphone storytelling. In recent years, his work has expanded to emerging technologies, including Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 360-degree video, and Artificial Intelligence. Through workshops and media labs, he explores how Generative AI can enhance content creation, helping storytellers leverage new tools to shape the future of media.
  • Simon Ashton
    Solution Manager, BBC Technology and Media Operations
    Simon Ashton is part of a small team managing contribution technology for the BBC, ranging from cellular bonding live hardware for camera crews, to apps used by thousands of journalists and pan-BBC Mojo kits.
    Knowing from an early age he wanted to work in television. He was in the first year of students in the UK to do GSCE and A-Level Media Studies and went on to gain a BA in Media and Communication from Birmingham City University.
    A former news camera crew and RTS award-winning video editor, he started his career at ITN in London, working on the death of Diana Princess of Wales and helping to launch the first major non-linear edit system in a UK newsroom.
    He moved to BBC Bristol in 2001 to launch the Inside Out documentary series as lead editor, working on stories such as the final flight of Concorde, the Salisbury Novichok poisonings, and many Glastonbury Festivals, trained news teams across BBC England and worked on encouraging Mojo in his newsroom before returning to London in 2019.
    With his colleague Andy Carter, they take a lead in the BBC on apps and Mojo tools used for recording video, stills and audio as well as the increasing demand for live audio and video contribution from mobile devices.

  • Rob Layton
    Assistant Professor of Mobile Journalism, Bond University
    Rob is an Assistant Professor of Mobile Journalism at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. His expertise has led him to work with and be published by Apple, Google, News Corp, and the ABC, among others. He was a career journalist before becoming a full-time journalism educator. He has trained journalists and producers in mobile journalism globally, including for the Australian national broadcaster’s flagship programs, as well as at Al Jazeera and News Corp. His mobile-made short documentaries have been awarded and screened in cinemas and events globally, including the United Nations Ocean Conference in Portugal, NAB in Las Vegas, Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, Global Short Film Awards Cannes, Florida Surf Film Awards, and the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibit.
    Rob specialises in using iPhones for filming in the ocean. His latest mojo project was a half-hour documentary about a scientific expedition filmed on a tall ship sailing a thousand kilometres around Iceland. He is undertaking a PhD into mobile journalism, exploring his concept of ‘cinematic mobile journalism’ (cinemojo). The doctoral project is a mojo documentary that examines localised surf culture at his home point break of Burleigh Heads
  • Dani Maletic
    Entrepreneur & Founder NomadÉire
    Dani is a Bosnian-Irish entrepreneur, and lifelong digital nomad with a passion for remote work and holistic living. With 20 years of experience in education, event creation, and digital marketing, she has designed and delivered impactful content and events both in Ireland and internationally.

    A true citizen of the world, she has lived in 12 countries, traveled to many more, and speaks four languages. As the founder of NomadÉire, she is dedicated to building a thriving community of location-independent professionals, promoting the philosophy of "work to live, not live to work". She also mentors startups and hosts the annual Irish Digital Nomad Conference & Fest, fostering conversations around the future of work and lifestyle design, as well as showcasing the best of Ireland to world wanderers, global citizens on the move, remote work trailblazers and borderless entrepreneurs.
