Day Two Workshops
Mirrorless Workflow for Field Production
PhotoJoseph
Learn about the benefits of shooting with mirrorless cameras over mobile phones for field production, and how easy and flexible it can be to bring media into the computer or even your phone or tablet to edit. See how the Open Gate format allows for the ultimate flexibility when creating both widescreen and vertical content (or when you don’t know what the final destination will be!). Lens selection, low light performance, higher resolution for editing flexibility, superior dynamic range to capture every detail, and much more makes a mirrorless camera the standout choice for field production. A small mirrorless kit may be bigger than your phone, but it can still be remarkably compact and provides unmistakably higher quality.

We will set out with objectives of what we want to create and Brendan will give one-to-one guidance to all participants on the walk. Later we will return to the venue and work together as we learn to sequence and edit images into a cohesive narrative of our experiences of Dublin, its people and environment.

Long Form mobile stories
Jon Gill
When shooting documentaries, what’s the best thing about a phone? There’s no doubting its capabilities as a powerhouse movie studio with incredible lenses on tap, instant playback and the capacity to edit as quickly as I can think. But its often overlooked superpower is, it’s a phone.
Like an undercover reporter it has a disarming quality, almost invisible, never getting in the way of frank and honest conversation. At MoJoFest I’m going to share my decade of making small, award winning documentaries… my techniques, experiences (good and bad) and why I’ll never invest in traditional camera.
Use Social Media to Your Advantage
Nick Mattingly
While social media has made it easy for anyone to build a following and online community, ultimately these platforms own your content and your audience. This forces you to chase algorithms, upload daily/weekly content just to be seen in the feed, only to get vanity metrics (i.e. # likes, # views, etc.). We have to use social media to reach audiences where they are, but it's time to take control of your content, to amplify reach and foster engagement without minimizing the value you have to offer. In 2025 and beyond it's more important than ever to develop a direct relationship with your audience and invest in methods to gate select content rather than give it all away for free. This workshop explores strategies to do just that!
As often happens at Mojofest, other speakers may offer pop-up workshops, photo walks and AMA sessions on the days of the event
